This course will teach a variety of methods for designing and making your own books. Participants will explore traditional formats (great for photo albums and journals) and non-traditional structures (accordion, pop-up and more…) Class will include an introduction to printing, papermaking, stamping, and layout. Students are encouraged to bring personal photos, collage materials or embellishments (but not required.) Beginner and experienced artists welcome!
Kasey Davis Appleman is a photographer, painter, arts educator and collector. She finds inspiration through her love of gardening and her obsession with collecting antiques, miniatures and the “found object”. The subject matter of her photographs varies from New England landscapes to the whimsical installation of collectables. Her art captures the beauty of a rusted hinge and the quirky happenstance of objects and nature. She is a subscriber to life-long learning, creativity and play. Kasey comes by her talent honestly as a fifth generation New England Artist would. She lives and makes art in Boston, MA. and has worked for more than 14 years as an arts educator with students of all ages. She studied art at Emmanuel College and holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in painting and printmaking.
All classes are $20 per session unless otherwise noted
You can take a 10% discount with a Roslindale Community Center or a Roslindale Arts Alliance Membership
Minimum of 5 students must be pre-registered for class to take place
In some classes there will be a materials fee payable to teacher the first night of class. Some classes list materials you will bring
Cancellations with refund only with a week’s notice.
If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather or the closureof the Community Center, the class will be rescheduled. Students will be notified by phone.
